Responsibilities

Job Summary
Lead, guide and direct terminal employees to include setting targets, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development.
Accountable for the management of an efficient, clean and safe LTL operation.
Responsible for all hiring, training and terminations; assuring all paperwork is processed according to proper Company guidelines with appropriate levels of follow up with management on timely task completion.

Manage / oversee all terminal functions to include dock, city operations and scheduling for all timely freight deliveries
Responsible for meeting all the KPI's set forth by the company.
Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments such as safety, sales, claims, loss prevention, customer care, and fleet services
Directly investigate the source of customer complaints and respond accordingly to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities
Act as Company's representative before government agencies or legal representatives

The Terminal Manager will be responsible for maintaining regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance as well as leading large groups of team members and consistently showing a high level of professionalism. Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping and daily inventory.
Conduct inspections and trainings.
Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management or customer.
Operate in a manner where SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT are of the highest importance.
Climb onto top and underneath railcars in order to inspect and seal railcars using a checklist
Perform structural inspections as required.
Prepare equipment for product transfer.
Start, stop, and operate engines/pumps within defined operating parameters.
Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to work outside majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions.
Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed.

The Terminal Manager will lead a complex operation focused on safety, administration, maintenance, train performance and productivity. Terminal Managers are charged with developing and driving terminal strategies and solutions through people, systems and process to continuously ensure excellence in safety, profitability and service. Successful Terminal Managers are critical thinkers that possess strong analytical and communication skills and embrace a rapid-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Terminal Manager
Leads Terminal to ensure KPIs are met; Train Performance, Lifts per Hour & Cost per Hour, etc.
Accountable for overall P&L responsibilities
Develops and drives existing staff to enhance Engagement & Retention within the Terminal
Builds collaborative partnerships between ITS and local railroad officers
Acts as key point of contact between ITS and our customers
Enforces and upholds all ITS rules, regulations and policies
Approaches violations with care and administers disciplinary actions when required
Monitors and approves terminal purchases for payment & manages purchases within budget
Approves weekly time & attendance and ensures data is accurate and timely
Partners with Talent Acquisition to ensure the Terminal is fully staffed
Owns the Training and Orientation process of all employees to ensure their ongoing success
Provides Terminal Metrics & Reports as needed
Other duties as assigned (administrative & non-administrative)

Bachelor's degree preferred or related experience
5+ years leadership experience
Prior (5+ years) intermodal, transportation, logistics or warehousing experience
Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills
Excellent communication skills are mandatory
Proficient in Outlook and MS Office suite of products
Strong Work Ethic

Position: Terminal Manager
Job Description:
Forward Air Solutions. is seeking a capable and career-oriented Terminal Manager to lead our fast-paced shipping/dock operation. The ideal candidate will supervise and coordinate all activities of dockworkers and other support personnel. He/she will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts. In addition, he/she will provide dockworker training, performance feed-back, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Ensure all work is performed according to Forward Air approved procedures, standards, and specifications for dock operations
Guarantee audit compliance within all areas of the operation
Review terminal operating reports and adjust labor schedules for increased efficiencies
Create onboarding strategies for hiring, training and overall employee retention
Focus on employee development: organic growth through cross-training
Ensure accurate daily asset reporting: Trailers, Forklifts, TAP Scanners, Load Bars and Containers
Manage and react to day-to-day operational requirements in a professional and timely manner
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to ninety (90) pounds
Directly supervise all activities of dockworkers and support personnel engaged in loading and unloading trucks and trailers
Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules
Ensure appropriate load plans and proper load balance to ensure safe vehicle operation
Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job duties
Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customers
Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of Hazardous Materials as provided by the Department of Transportation
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Strong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment
Ability to drive performance of direct reports and lead a team in a lean manufacturing environment
Understand P&L statements and analyze areas for production improvement.
Must be willing to work various shifts and days per week.
International/Import experience is a plus
Minimum 3 years management experience
Degree preferred
Transportation experience preferred
Demonstrated operational management experience of minimum 15 person unit or larger required
Knowledge of proper freight handling techniques
Knowledge of Hazardous Materials handling
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of operations
Must be flexible to work weekends and nights
Forklift and general freight handling experience
Skills:
Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment
General computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook, AS400
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
